Casacando

Casacando is an installation system in the shade of a tree. It reveals itself and is continuously undone, acting both as a housing ideal and a listening device, open even if confined by branches, leaves and roots. In its desire for incompleteness, it models itself in an informal way by means of small ephemeral frames, silly furnishings and overlapping sounds. Structural signs and actions aimed at facilitating a temporary stay design the speculative environment – sound and architectural – that Canedicoda and Renato Grieco occupy. A living space-house-instrument that is organized through observation, listening, homeostasis, extension, agreement. Casacando could derive from the (not yet existing) verb Casacandare: looking for a home by singing, a nomadic but rootable act, naive but individualistic.

Canedicoda is a Milan-based multi-disciplinary artist active in music, performance, design and fashion fields. He developed a rich, personally distinctive universe that is constantly changing but always immediately recognisable. A pivotal figure bringing and spreading to Italy several innovative and liminal currents of artistic, stylistic and musical pursuit, his experience includes a vast number of projects in cooperation with record labels, non-profit spaces, groups and artists both in Italy and beyond. Since 2003 Canedicoda has developed his own personal research on language, style and method, creating his own label. Recent live projects include solo concerts under the name Ottaven and as Primorje in duo with Matteo Castro, and the performances Adagio con Buccia, and Musica per un Giorno (2016>2040) with the dancer Roberta Mosca. From 2019 he’s running together with Valentina Lucchetti the artistic furnitures project Edizioni Brigantino. www.canedicoda.com

Renato Grieco – kNN. is a composer and sound enthusiast from Naples. He works on sound disciplines such as listening, recording, archiving, storytelling, voice and speech, questioning the space through the production, the recording, the organization and the dissemination of sounds. It all started as a double bass player. Later on, under the nickname kNN, he started composing music for fixed media. He experimented with the arrangement of one or more sound sources in a habitable context; he imagined and designed objects or spaces for listening, both physical and virtual. He has spoken inside some objects. He listened through other objects. His work has very little to do with so-called ‘acoustic ecology’. He believes in absolute waste and carnival. He tries not to align with the hordes that place sound practices among scientific or purely theoretical disciplines. He consider listening as a cognitive activity per se, which influences the intellect and the body with its own semantics, its humor and its tragic nature. https://rongrieco.tumblr.com/
