BOGA elementary pieces for the temple’s fire is a performance based on the revisitation of a series of pyrics and celebrative traditional devices made of bamboo material, in particular the Meriam Buluh: largely unknown to the western audience, the famous Bamboo Canon is an explosive instrument and noise generator used in several folk and religious festivities, then popularized in the ‘90s as a handmade illegal toy in the rural zones of Malesia, Indonesia and Philippine. The performance presents a modified and prepared version of this instrument and a paraphernalia of ephemeral pyrotechnic sonic devices so to generate action, sound and light in relation to the presence and the movement of the two performers involved: the percussionist Enrico Malatesta and the dance maker Cristina Kristal Rizzo. BOGA at Live Arts Week X is a sub-urban ritual action in an open space, which uses for the art of fire-works the nuances and shadows of natural light and darkness. Subtle and incandescent.

Enrico Malatesta is an Italian percussionist and sound researcher active in the field of experimental music, sound intervention and performance; his practice explores the relations between sound, space and body, the vitality of materials and the morphology of surfaces, with particular attention to the percussive acts. His research path is characterized by a strong emphasis on the ability to produce multiple information with simple actions, the motion and definition of the experience of listening and sustainability of the presence of the performer through the sound. He presented his work in Italy, Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea, participating in important festivals of experimental and contemporary music, and performing arts. He is the founder of MU and FREQUENT, independent associations dedicated to the organization of events, exhibitions and workshops on sound, experimental music and space practices, active in Milan and in Emilia-Romagna.  www.enricomalatesta.com
